Always striving to improve quality of life at work!
Quality of Working Life (QWL) Week –a national event which takes place in June on the theme of “a meaning to work"– is an opportunity for GRTgaz to propose solutions designed to improve its employees' well-being. We find out more about this with Thierry Escaffre, the company's Diversity Manager and HR Transformation Project Manager.
What have you organised at GRTgaz during QWL Week?
We have organised virtual workshops, open to all employees and led by experts, on three different subjects. The first combines theory and practical exercises to help inspire positivity and optimism among participants and give meaning to their actions. The second is dedicated to postural stretching, in particular joint mobility exercises that help to relax the muscles that are used the most in the workplace, such as the back and wrists. The third focuses on finding techniques to improve self-confidence and communication.
"Depending on how successful this operation is, the company will decide whether to implement permanently and on a large scale a package of levers –online workshops, but also newsletters or mobile applications– to improve our employees' well-being."Thierry Escaffre

How did you run these workshops?
We gave ourselves two weeks to determine our employees' interest in the subjects proposed and the format. We wanted them to have time to take part and to determine their interest in these workshops rather than sticking to just one week. Depending on how successful this operation is, the company will decide whether to implement permanently and on a large scale a package of levers –online workshops, but also newsletters or mobile applications– to improve our employees' well-being. To date, the first results are encouraging, but we will wait until the end of the workshops to obtain specific feedback.
What is the challenge for the company?
GRTgaz attaches great importance to its employees' quality of working life, which has become an even greater concern as a result of the health crisis. We are listening, we are working on workstations and the working environment, the organisation of working hours, methods and processes. And we also want to work on the health and well-being of everyone. When employees feel good, they feel freer and more committed. This is a daily strength which also contributes to the success of our company, which is why we want to innovate to always improve. Our efforts are already bearing fruit, as the quality of life and working conditions indicator shown in our last internal survey had improved at the beginning of 2022 compared to 2021. It is up to us to continue along this path.

QWL and diversity at GRTgaz
At GRTgaz, Quality of Working Life Week is taking place at the end of a month dedicated to diversity, which is another major concern for GRTgaz. The company has demonstrated this by setting up, for example, an LGBT+ group in 2020 and by pursuing a proactive policy of inclusion for people with disabilities.
