GRTgaz is launching its 2022 work-study campaign offering 160 new positions throughout France.

The work-study offers were launched on 21 February 2022 and are aimed at candidates with experience ranging from French “Bac Pro” (technical diploma) to “Bac+5” (high school diploma + 5-year university degree). The roles span a broad variety of professions such as maintenance technicians, research engineers, buyers and even project managers in IT and engineering. In 2021, 30% of technical work-study trainees were hired on permanent contracts (CDI).

Almost half of the 132 work-study trainees recruited in 2021 were women. “Our line of business is not only for men, and our professions, including technical positions, are open to men and women alike,” specifies Béatrice Vignier, manager of the Recruitment and Career Management Department. To ensure respect for the principle of fairness, GRTgaz strives to make its offers inclusive.

Work-study: a key challenge for our HR policy

Work-study programs allow students to prepare to enter the world of work. It is a chance for them to discover the company and gain access to some of its expertise.

“Welcoming these young people gives us an external perspective, which is often inspiring, about our practices and ways of operating,” stresses Anne-Sophie Marie-Louise, HR Development Officer. “In some areas, it’s also about pre-empting our future hires by putting together a pool of potential candidates. This is even more the case given that the gas professions are highly specific and there are few dedicated academic courses,” adds Béatrice Vignier.

Each year, GRTgaz welcomes around 100 work-study trainees to its teams, and 8% of its staff are part of work-study programs (far beyond the 5% regulatory requirement).

As an illustration of its commitment, the company was awarded in 2022 the HappyTrainees label – for the sixth year in a row – which rewards the most popular organisations among interns and work-study trainees. The latter group gave GRTgaz an overall score of 4.2/5, with 94.4% stating they would recommend the company to others. “This result comes from the special relations of trust established between interns, work-study trainees and their tutors and managers,” explains Béatrice Vignier.

In parallel to the GRTgaz work-study campaign, the Operations Department has designed a system aimed at recruiting young people in connection with work-study contracts (learning and professionalisation). These half-day sessions will be run by pairs of HR managers and take place in two parts: motivational meetings and workshops to assess skills such as technical dexterity, the ability to work as part of the team, etc.
