Recovering solid waste
On 5 March 2022, GRTgaz signed a partnership agreement with Energiepole Solutions, a company specialising in waste reduction and recovery.
The goal is to carry out a feasibility study for a pyrogasification unit to recover local, non-fermentable waste (e.g. wood pallets), with injection into the transmission network.
The study will analyse and characterise the waste collected by Energiepole Group in the urban community of Arles-Crau-Camargue-Montagnette. It will also determine the project’s technical-economic potential (by comparing, in particular, the various potential technologies), with a view to recovering this waste as injectable gas. The study is entrusted to the firm Agroénergie and co-financed by GRTgaz, GRDF and the Southern Region. It forms part of the pyrogasification goals in the regional land management, sustainable development and territorial equality plan, which sets a target production of 2.1 TWh by 2030. Once again, GRTgaz is confirming its commitment to developing innovative solutions that lead to an ever-more renewable gas mix.
