Winter Outlook 2021/2022

GRTgaz and Teréga publish the Winter Outlook 2021/2022 which sets out the outlook of the gas system for the coming winter.

The gas system is able to meet national winter demand. The capacities subscribed for at the various border entry points of the network and for the withdrawal of storage are sufficient to cover the demand during a very cold winter. They will offer market participants (shippers, industrials, gas suppliers, etc.) the possibility of using all sources of supply (LNG and imports by pipeline). Prudent management means preserving gas in storage until the end of winter 2022 to ensure security of supply in the event of exceptional cold.

In the event of occasional congestions, the specific management mechanisms put in place with TRF (Trading Region France) are provided to resolve them. The efficiency of these mechanisms presupposes the availability of gas in storage downstream of the constraints on the network. GRTgaz and Teréga continuously monitor these stocks throughout the winter to prevent congestions.
