GRTgaz joins the New Energies Coalition

GRTgaz joins the New Energies Coalition for Transport and Logistics which now has nineteen members.

Created by CMA CGM Group in 2019, the New Energies Coalition brings together the world's leading international logistics chains operators. Together, they are committed to developing energy and technology solutions for reducing the sector’s impact on climate change.

“We are very proud to be joining the New Energies Coalition, which brings together 19 of the world's leading companies in their respective areas, all committed to promoting the energy transition. I would like to pay tribute to this global initiative designed to share the best technologies, the aim being to develop economically viable solutions that perform well from a climate perspective. Gas infrastructure plays an important role in decarbonising transport and logistics”

CEO of GRTgaz

An initiative for concrete and viable decarbonisation solutions

GRTgaz is joining the New Energies Coalition that was founded in December 2019 by Rodolphe Saadé, CEO of CMA CGM Group.

Its members are currently Airbus, Air Liquide, ArcelorMittal, AWS, Bureau Veritas, Crédit Agricole CIB (Corporate and Investment Banking), Carrefour, Cluster Maritime Français, CMA CGM, Engie, Kuehne+Nagel, Michelin, PSA International, Rolls Royce, Schneider Electric, TotalEnergies, Veolia and Wartsila.

GRTgaz and all the other economic and industrial stakeholders in the coalition are committed to delivering the energy transition across the transport and logistics sectors. The Coalition's efforts are focused on Research and Development, as well as inter-industrial cooperation. The whole value chain of the transport and logistics sectors is represented – from manufacturers and energy producers to end users. This collaborative approach provides the means to better understand the issues and challenges that each one faces in developing relevant and realistic solutions – in terms of new energies and new technologies for decarbonising transport (maritime, air and road) and logistics operations across the world.

GRTgaz's expertise serving a group effort

GRTgaz's entry into the Coalition New Energies is a step forward in the development of renewable and low-carbon gas solutions for mobility and logistics.

GRTgaz firmly believes that new gases will play an essential role in successfully delivering the energy transition. GRTgaz is keen to share its expertise and its R&D capabilities in managing gas systems and developing renewable and low-carbon gases (such as biomethane, hydrogen and e-methane) with the coalition.

GRTgaz will also share its decarbonisation experience acquired through CO2 transport network projects – CO2 captured at industrial sites and transported up to the locations at which it will be used and geologically stored.

The company has a foothold in the main areas across France where high levels of CO2 are emitted, with infrastructure projects in Fos-Sur Mer (where the Jupiter 1000 pilot and HYnframed project are located), Dunkirk and Nantes-Saint-Nazaire (with the projet GOCO2 project to capture and transport CO2 of industrial origin from the Loire region and Greater Western France).
